This is the version of Persephone & Hades that I know, some of it might not be the same as other stories, but there are probably at least a hundred slightly different versions of the story, so bear with me. And I'm telling this how I like, not like any history book, more modern.
So the story starts with Hades being a lonely boi and having a crush on Persephone. Hades asked Zeus for permission to marry her since Zeus and Demeter are her parents, and it was quite unlikely for Demeter to allow it. Zeus allowed it. While Hades was there, he asked Zeus for tips to get Persephone to love him. Zeus, being the idiot that he is, made the plan for Hades to kidnap Persephone and to lure her with flowers. Hades did so. While kidnapping Persephone, Hecate was nearby, far enough to not see it exactly but close enough to notice something happened. After a little while, Demeter noticed Persephone was gone. Demeter searched for a long time, both mad at the kidnapper and depressed at the loss of her daughter. Demeter then, out of anger, created a long period when no crops or plants grew, this time, we know as winter. And then Demeter found Hecate, and Hecate told her she saw something happen, though unknown what. Demeter then had the idea to go visit Helios, the sun Titan. Sure enough, he saw what happened and told Demeter.
Back in the underworld, Persephone ended up a bit hungry and ate part of a pomegranate.
