#QoTD #GHSouthernSlang
Do you have any regional slang that other people have no idea what it means? Or that may be confusing?

SOUTHERN SLANG:
Ain't (are not), All Y'all (plural of y'all), Upside (I'm gonna hit you upside your head), etc, as well as these phrases:

1. Bless your heart. ( A very empathetic phrase.)
"Oh, sweetheart, bless your heart. He really did that?"

2. Barking up the wrong tree. (When someone has their facts wrong.)
"You're barking up the wrong tree with that."

3. Aren't you precious? (A sarcastic remark to when someone is being offensive.)
"Oh, honey, aren't you precious."

4. Britches. (Your pants or underwear.)
"Pull up your britches, honey."

5. Boonies/sticks. (Where a countryfolk may live).
"Oh, you live way out in the sticks!"

6. Hillbilly/redneck (a Southern person).
"I'm a redneck!"

7. "Supper" (dinner).
"Time for supper!"

And these are just the more clear ones!

lunamoonlight My family uses over half of those (we live in Iowa but mom's side of the family used to live in Tennessee). I don't know exactly what would be considered regional slang for me.

Emelyisaway I know those! My family is salvadoran and we have our own stuff lol

FunHeart1010 As a person who lives in the south, i approve this message.
