I'm so happy because THE CHAPTER OF EXAMS IS CLOSED for now! I've to give tests again in August, but until then, I've a lot of time to enjoy being active on KN! (I've to study everyday, as usual, though).

I have looked up things like "How to get a parent to stop smoking" and other variations of that, and every website that comes up, I have tried almost everything that it says with my dad and he still smokes. He normally either says it's a load of bull crap or he doesn't care. My grandpa used to smoke, I never met him because he died from lung cancer before I was born. My dad knows about second-hand smoking and how it could be bad for me, and I am actually having a cough fest when he's home because of all the smoke, he doesn't care. I actually go "Hey dad" and point to the TV screen whenever a commercial comes on for stuff to help people stop smoking, he still hasn't taken a hint. Everything with the different cncers and stuff that you can get from smoking, he calls bull crap on that even though he knows about my grandpa. We have ash trays in every single room (even the bathroom) because he never goes anywhere without a cigarette. He will continue smoking even in non-smoking buildings (like hotels and stuff) and just says "If people don't like me smoking inside they can go outside, I'm not going to" or some crap like that. I have mostly gaven up on trying to get him to stop. My mom is fine with it because 1. My mom smokes sometimes herself. and 2. My dad used to drink and more stuff so she is fine with him just smoking and not all the other stuff. So it's not likely for my dad to stop, I know he's addicided and it's hard to stop but he has never really made an effort either or showed any concern in it. I don't like him smoking, I know it's bad for him and everyone he's around, but there isn't a way for me to really convince him.
JD2005 Smoking is disgusting. I'm saying this because my dad smokes a lot, too and my mom isn't okay with it, so it always ends up with quarrels. And that's true, anyone just can't stop anyone like that. It needs the concentration of who smokes, him/herself, to stop smoking.
JD2005 Your dad is almost the same as my dad, though he doesn't smoke in the bathroom.
