Making an A-Z index of characters I have created for LOTR. I am considering making an index of all my main OCs... ANYWAY! Here's just one entry out of 50 or so, Kemenfiniel. Based off "Tolkien's World from A to Z: Complete Guide to Middle-earth by Robert Foster"!
KEMENFINIEL (from Quenya: kemen 'earth', findë 'hair' and iel 'maiden' (TA) Eldarin Elf, daughter of Morloxë. Kemenfiniel was known for her bowmanship (and fletching) and skill with light blades such as swords or daggers. She was also a great hunter and scout, as well as a seasoned and skilled fighter.
While very young she caught the eye of the Elvenking in a legendary archery competion, in which she scored the highest, even over his son Legolas. To show him that this just wasn't a lucky turn of events, she was sent out to an orc camp, where she was challenged to kill at least five fercious orcs. She ended up killing all of them, using a mixture of archery, kniving, and brief swordplay coupled with trickery and unrivalled sneaking. As a reward for this, she was accepted into the Mirkwoodian army as a scout and within a year had climbed the ranks to Mirkwoodian General.
During the year of the Battle of the Five Armies, she was aganist the Elvenking's descison to inprison them. She was a sort of jailer to them, but took her post lightly: she is said to have sung songs for them to keep them cheery. When Bilbo came to release the dwarves, she helped at the expense of losing her job: however, it was rumored that she kept it due to her friendship with the other generals and the king's son. After a few years she left the army to be an indepenent scout for Elvendom. It is unclear why exactly she left: exile is an option, but she seems to have been within the law and wishes of the Elvenking during her service. Others think she left willingly, or because her service to the army was finished, and she wished to serve another way. However, she had bitter feelings towards the Elvenking. After the battle, she took to the roads, and went to live in Rivendell, where she realized she was related to Elrond and his daughter Arwen, and did a variety of things to help with the War of the Ring, such as becoming a scout during the Fellowship's time in Rivendell.
She appeared to be a youth, had dark hair and eyes, and wore primarily greens along with blacks and earthy browns. She had a bow engraved with leaves and stars, and was one of the youngest elves to reach the rank of general. Her clothes techinally carried star or forest symbols, such as leaves, trees, or twigs. She was a master with a bow, hitting things from miles off. She was skilled with hand-to-hand and knives, and could use a sword well. However, she didn't like maces, axes, throw weapons, or anything heavy or too large. In fact, when she was left with only a greatsword during a training drill as a youngster, she broke the blade off of it and simply used the section of metal. She was shy but could lead well, and was unfailingly kind and merciful, even when in battle. She could have a sharp tongue, however, usually when feeling defensive or sticking up for others or herself in front of authority.
She was part Rohan royalty (from Aiyatar, her father; this made her Eowyn's once-removed cousin), part Edain, Eldar, and Maia (from her mother, Morloxe; this made her Arwen's cousin). She chose to be of the Eldar, being Half-Elven, unlike her siblings, who all choose to be mortal.
Also known as Sireryn and Luvalindelë or (as a last name) Lomionrim, along with several Mannish names
GemHeart There are several typos, sorry. I can't revise very well on the note app I use, and I didn't go back to correct.
