THE COLD WITHIN by unknown source
Six humans trapped by happenstance, in bleak and bitter cold,
Each one possessed a stick of wood, or so the story's told.
Their dying fire in need of logs, the first man held his back,
For of the faces 'round the fire, he noticed one was black.
The next man looking 'cross the way saw one not of his church,
And couldn't bring himself to give the fire his stick of birch.
The third one sat in tattered clothes, he gave his coat a hitch,
Why should his log be put to use to warm the idle rich?
The rich man just sat back and thought of the wealth he had in store,
And how to keep what he had earned from the lazy, shiftless poor.
The black man's face bespoke revenge as the fire passed from sight,
For all he saw in his stick of wood was a chance to spite the white.
The last man of this forlorn group did not except for gain,
Giving only to those who gave was how he played the game.
Their logs held tight in death's still hand was proof of human sin,
They didn't die from the cold without -- they died from the cold within.

One thing my mom brought up-
We were once talking about women's month, and my mom was talking about how sexist it would seem for someone to make men's day, racist for white history day, homophobic for straight month, ect. I get what she means, I know the reason we have women's month/day, black history month, and pride month, but it is at the same time leaving out the other sides and if someone were to say something like "there should be a straight month too" it would never be accepted, it would just seem like the person was against LGBTQ+, even if that weren't the case. And I appreciate all the days and months dedicated to stuff like that, but I really think we shouldn't need them. This is just me talking randomness, but like if y'all get what I mean.

KnightStar I get what you mean totally. I don't really take full on pride for something I was born as, I didn't earn it so I shouldn't be praised for it lol. Even though there isn't a Hispanic month haha. n-not that i would want one

Quick thing when I write-
So if you ever see letters missing from comments or posts of mine unintentionally, that is because my auto correct is broken and when I type too fast and misspell something or I am writing a contraction like don't or can't it takes letters out.
